Mid-level puffy clouds in rows or patches, often white or gray, sometimes called a "mackerel sky." Each puff looks about thumb-sized at arm's length. In technical terms: A middle-etage cloud genus (roughly 2-7 km) of white or gray sheets or patches of rounded masses or rolls, composed mostly of water droplets often supercooled; individual elements subtend 1-5 degrees of arc.
