What Is Gate?
One small chunk of the radar beam at a set distance. The radar measures each chunk separately, like pixels along a line. In technical terms: A range bin along a radial, representing the sample volume at a given range; WSR-88D super-resolution uses 250 m range gates at 0.5 degree azimuthal spacing on lower tilts.
Also called: Range Bin, Range Gate
