What Is Advisory?
An NWS alert for weather that is a nuisance or somewhat hazardous but is not expected to be dangerous enough for a warning. Be careful, but it is not an emergency. In technical terms: A National Weather Service product for hazardous conditions that are occurring, imminent or likely but less severe than warning criteria, for example Winter Weather, Wind, Dense Fog or Heat Advisories; criteria vary by local forecast office.
