What Is Wake Low?
A small low-pressure area behind a line of storms that can cause sudden strong winds after the rain ends. In technical terms: A mesoscale surface low at the back edge of an MCS stratiform region, produced by adiabatic warming in descending rear inflow; strong pressure gradients between the mesohigh and wake low can produce damaging "heat burst" or gradient winds.
