What Is Maritime Polar?

Cool, moist air that forms over the northern oceans. It brings clouds, drizzle, and showers to coasts like the Pacific Northwest. In technical terms: An air mass (mP) originating over cold high-latitude oceans, cool and moist; over warmer land in winter it is conditionally unstable and showery, while in summer it tends to be stable with low clouds and fog.
