What Is Roll Cloud?

A long, horizontal, tube-shaped cloud that is not attached to the storm cloud above and seems to roll along. In technical terms: A detached, horizontal, tube-shaped accessory cloud (volutus) forming along a gust front or solitary wave, often appearing to rotate about its horizontal axis.
